Kansas City, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) has cancelled Eagle Day event scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 10, at LaBenite Park in Sugar Creek. A centerpiece of the event was a live eagle program by Dickerson Park Zoo of Springfield, Mo. But the zoo staff cancelled their appearance after issues arose regarding an eagle used in the programs. No activities will be held and the event is officially cancelled.

The next opportunity in the Kansas City area for visiting an Eagle Days program will be Jan. 7-8 at Smithville Lake. MDC, Clay County Parks and Recreation, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will host the event. Live raptor programs will be presented indoors at the Paradise Point Golf Course Clubhouse. Spotting scopes will be set up around the lake in areas wild eagles are frequenting. For more information, visit http://bit.ly/2g3sFQA.
