Hunters in Missouri and throughout the bobwhite quail's range want to know why they don't see as many of their favorite game birds as they used to. Quail population dynamics are complex human land use, weather, predation and other factors all affect quail numbers. Wildlife biologists have determined that quail thrive where there is a mix of brushy cover and annual and perennial legumes, broadleaved weeds and grasses.
