Mozingo Lake is located in Nodaway County, 3 miles east of Maryville on US 136 (follow the signs). The area is owned and maintained by the city of Maryville, and is used as a drinking water supply for the city. The fishery is managed by the Missouri Department of Conservation. Construction of the lake began in 1991, and was completed in 1992. Ponds in the lake basin were initially stocked with bluegill and channel catfish in 1993, and the lake received its main initial stocking of largemouth bass and bluegill in 1994. Channel catfish are stocked annually to maintain the fishery. In 1996, walleye were introduced into the lake, and are currently stocked every other year.
Mozingo Lake is a long, narrow lake covering 1,006 acres, with a maximum depth of over 40 feet and 26 miles of shoreline. Excellent facilities maintained by the city of Maryville include 3 concrete boat ramps, a disabled accessible floating fishing dock, privies, 2 fish cleaning stations, primitive camping, RV camping, cabin rental, swimming beach, walking trails, horse trails, shelters for rent, and an 18-hole golf course.
