Current River Conservation Area encompasses approximately 29,000 acres of forested ozark land.
The area is roughly bordered by the Current River to the South and west, and Highways 106 and 21 to the north and east. Popular area activities are: Elk viewing, hunting, fishing, birdwatching, sightseeing, and backroading.
Places of interest on the area are: Current River, Blue Spring, Paint Rock Bluff, Fort Barnesville, Deer Run Log Cabin, Deer Run Fire Tower,Current River Elk Driving Tour and the Deer Run Shooting Range.

There are three entrances. One is located 3 miles west of Ellington on Highway 106. Another is located on South Road in Ellington. The other is located on Reynolds County Road 626.

Unless specifically authorized, the following activities are prohibited: swimming, sailboarding, skateboarding, entry on areas closed to the public, removal of water, rock collecting, planting, ranging of horses and other livestock, caving, rock climbing, rappelling, paint-balling, scuba diving, water skiing, and fires outside of designated camping areas.

Unless otherwise posted, bicycles are allowed on roads open to vehicular traffic. Bicycles must stay on roads open to vehicular traffic or on multi-use trails posted as open to bicycles.
