HIGH RIDGE Mo - The rifle/pistol range at the Jay Henges Shooting Range and Outdoor Education Center will reopen Friday, April 1, at 10 a.m.

The contractor, Action Target, recently completed adjustments to the new bullet trap at the rifle/pistol range that required the range to be shut down from March 26 to March 31.

The new bullet trap was installed as part of an extensive renovation project that was completed last October. Its design objective was to contain all lead shot on the range, isolate it from the environment, and allow it to be collected for recycling.

With the advantage of five months actual use, the contractor took the opportunity to fine tune structural components to achieve maximum efficiency of that goal.

Normal operating hours of the Jay Henges Shooting Range through April 30 are Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. From May 1 through August 31, the Range’s Wednesday hours will shift to 1 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The Jay Henges Shooting Range is located off I-44 at 1100 Antire Road in High Ridge, and is owned and operated by the Missouri Department of Conservation.
