Exhibit Animal Feeding

Discover the importance of Missouri reptiles and amphibians and see what it takes to keep our education animals happy and healthy. Bring your family and watch as we introduce and feed several different reptiles and amphibians. This program is part of our “Nature Center at Night” series, the nature center will be open until 7 pm this evening.

Conservation Kids

Insects are found on every continent playing important roles and our world wouldn’t be the same without them. Discover what it takes to be an insect as we explore the fields and forest in pursuit of these 6-legged creatures.

Conservation Adults

Come join the boardgame club for nature lovers! This monthly program will begin with a short program highlighting a different nature-themed board game, and how it relates to Missouri’s mission to have world class fish, forests, and wildlife. After the intro…let the games begin! There will be games available for all experience levels, though on average these games have a higher complexity level than family board game players may be used to, these games are most appropriate for ages 12 and up.

Conservation Families

Calling all grandparents! Bring your grandkids and join us for fun in the sun at Whitewater Creek near Millersville. Participants will meet at Old Plantation Access Conservation Area and take a short walk to the stream. Here, we will splash, play, and learn about the critters that call Missouri’s streams home. This program requires a short walk of less than ¼ of a mile over gravel and moderately uneven terrain. A welcome email will be sent prior to the program with full details and a packing list. This program is part of our “Grand” Adventure series.

Conservation Families

Calling all grandparents! Bring your grandkids and explore the forest at the nature center with the eyes of a naturalist. During this program we will take time to smell the flowers, explore the microscopic world in the undergrowth, and test our senses as we take in the beauty of a Missouri forest. Activities will be at a beginner’s level and all instruction and supplies will be provided. For this program, participants will meet at the Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center. Participants are asked to dress for the weather, bring athletic or hiking type shoes and bring a water bottle.

River Region Photography Association presents "The Visions of Nature."

The members of the R.R.P.A. enjoy spending time in the natural areas of Missouri, photographing the flora, fauna and landscapes that make the state unique. Please enjoy their visions, then go out and enjoy your own piece of nature.

Wildflowers

With spring starting around the show-me state local swamps, glads, and forest floors will start to come alive with the colors of wildflowers. During this program learn about some of the wildflowers you may see when viewing these ecosystems and where you might find them in your area. Please ensure that your MDC account includes an accurate email address so that you can receive a link to the virtual program.

Nature Rx

Leave your phone at home and take this chance to relax and reconnect with nature. Time in nature is healing, an opportunity to slow down and focus.

Class may take place outdoors if weather permits. Otherwise, we'll practice indoors with suggestions to further your nature time after class. This program is beginner-friendly and mats are provided; however, you are welcome to bring your own mat and other props. Please wear comfortable clothing and we encourage you to bring your own water bottle.

Conservation Kids

Has your child ever uttered the statement, “I’m bored!”? Well, look no further! This two-day camp is full outdoor adventure fun and will be sure to cure them of their summer boredom. This year we'll be exploring the beautiful variety of habitats found in Missouri, and the animals that call these places home. Throughout the two days of camp, participants will explore Missouri’s habitats by foot, canoe, and jumping right in! A welcome email will be sent prior to the program with full details and a packing list. Snacks, safety, and all equipment are provided.
