CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. -- The Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center presents “Trash to Treasure” a Nature Center at Night event on Thursday, Aug. 9, from 5 to 8 p.m. According to Nature Center Manager Sara Turner, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure, just like the old saying.
“If you’ve ever gone floating or canoeing after a flash flood or heavy rain, you know that nature has its own version of trash,” Turner said.
Nature Center visitors at this event will view a display of unique works of art made from items such as drift wood and limbs. Then, they’ll have the opportunity to get creative and make their own treasure from nature’s “trash”.
Nature Center at Night events provide opportunities for families to visit the Nature Center outside of regular operating hours and discover nature on their own schedule.
“Working moms and dads have a hard time making it to programs when they’re held during regular working hours, so we’ve carved out an evening a month that’s easy to fit into the schedule,” Turner said.
She said Trash to Treasure is open to all ages, youth and adult groups, and no registration is required. For more information call (573)290-5218 or go online to mdc.mo.gov.
The Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center is located on the north side of Cape Girardeau County Park. Normal business hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
