Springfield Nature Center program to focus on feral hog problem

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Feral hogs pose threats to Missouri’s wildlife and agricultural resources. These wild pigs that are descended from domestic stock are an unwelcome addition to the state’s natural world and state wildlife experts are trying to eradicate them.

Learn more about these nuisance creatures at the “Feral Hogs – Missouri Menace” program at 7 p.m. this Thursday, Feb. 20, at the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) Springfield Conservation Nature Center.  MDC Wildlife Damage Biologist James Dixon will discuss the history of feral hogs in Missouri and will discuss what measures the state of Missouri is taking to get rid of these problem pigs.

This program is suggested for ages 12 and up. It is free to the public, but registration is required. For more information, call 417-888-4237. The Springfield Conservation Nature Center is located in southeast Springfield at 4601 S. Nature Center Way.
