JEFFERSON CITY, MO. – The Missouri Department of Conservation’s Runge Conservation Nature Center invites teens and women to develop their archery skills at a free event on Thursday, Aug. 11. The teen lesson, for ages 13-17 years, runs from 9 a.m. to noon with the women’s portion held 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. that same day.

The Missouri National Archery in the Schools Program (MoNASP), taught at many local schools, helps build confidence and empowers individuals with the sport. With the help of instructors using the MoNASP method, this event will help participants learn a new skill or revisit an old one.

Instruction will begin inside the Nature Center and then move outside for a hands-on lesson. All necessary equipment is provided, just come prepared to be involved.

Registration for this free event is required and begins Aug. 1. To register, or for more information, call the Runge Conservation Nature Center at 573-526-5544. For information on other upcoming events and programs at the Nature Center, visit mdc.mo.gov/events.

Runge Nature Center is located on Hwy 179 in Jefferson City approximately .5 miles north of Hwy 50. Building hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday with extended hours until 8 p.m. on Thursdays. The building is closed on Sunday and Monday. The outdoor trails are open daily from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
