MDC offers quail habitat workshop in Caldwell County

Cowgill, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will present a Quail Management Workshop 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 17, at Riverview Properties south of Cowgill. The workshop in Caldwell County is free.

Topics will include bobwhite quail biology, habitat favorable to quail, and cost share programs that help property manager improve habitat for quail. Experts will discuss practices to establish and maintain native warm season grasses. Field demonstrations will include examples of practices that provide covey headquarters establishment and brood rearing cover.

MDC is offering the workshop in cooperation with the Natural Resources Conservation Service and Soil and Water Conservation Districts in Caldwell, Carroll, and Ray counties.

Directions: From Cowgill, go south on Route B 3.5 miles; west on 230th Street 0.5 mile; north on Rattlesnake Road 0.25 mile, west on 232nd Street to parking area. Signs will be posted.
