ST. CHARLES, Mo. — Effective immediately, the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) is closing all interior gravel roads on the August A. Busch Memorial Conservation Area in St. Charles until further notice. The closure is due to icy and hazardous driving conditions.

The MDC St. Louis Regional Office near the area’s entrance, its parking lot and the paved road leading to it will remain open.

A layer of ice created by freezing mist earlier Tuesday morning, on top of the packed snow already on the roads, has created conditions that significantly increase the risk of motor vehicles losing control or becoming stranded. As of this time the roads will remain closed until further notice. MDC staff anticipates they may be able to reopen the roads within the next couple of days, but that will depend on weather conditions.

For the most up-to-date status, call 636-441-4554, or go to https://bit.ly/2Dcbg7i.

The 6,950-acre August A. Busch Memorial Conservation Area is located at 2360 Highway D, approximately two miles west of Highway 94.
