CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – The Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center presents “Conservation Destination: Apple Creek”, an opportunity to explore the outdoors within the safety of a group on Saturday, Aug. 4, from 9 a.m. to noon.
According to Nature Center Manager Sara Turner, “Conservation Destination” events help to give people ideas of where they can go to discover nature, whether in a group or on their own.
“We have many conservation areas within reasonable driving distance, so many that there’s really always some place handy to stop and picnic, hike or take part in lots of outdoor activities,” Turner said. “Sometimes the hardest part is just figuring out where to go.”
The group will meet at the Nature Center before driving out to Apple Creek Conservation Area (ACCA). ACCA is a 2000-acre area with much to offer anyone who wants to be outdoors: hunting, fishing, boating, birding, shooting, hiking, camping and more.
“By driving throughout the area and doing a little hiking, participants in ‘Conservation Destination’ become familiar with the area’s details,” Turner said. “This helps to make future visits more enjoyable.”
Conservation Destination is open to participants age 8 and up. Registration is required and early registration begins July 17. Reservations are required by August 4.
