Deer hunting will be the focus of Oct. 3 MDC program

ASH GROVE, Mo. – Hunting deer is a great way to enjoy the outdoors in the fall and can also provide meat for the dinner table that is both tasty and healthy.

People interested in getting started in deer hunting can learn more about this popular pastime at the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) program “Learning to Hunt: Deer Hunting” on Oct. 3 at MDC’s Andy Dalton Shooting Range and Outdoor Education Center. This free program will be from 4-6:30 p.m. People can register for this program at:

At this Oct. 3 program, MDC Assistant Outdoor Education Center Manager Steve Govero will cover the basics for those who are interested in getting started in deer hunting. Topics that will be covered include wildlife identification, habits, habitat, regulations, safety, hunting strategies, and game care.

Though this program is free, registration is required to participate using the link above. Program registrants should note that they now have the option to link their children’s accounts to their own, which will streamline the program registration process. Once a group account is set up, parents will be able to register their children for an event without having to log-off or log-in for each person. This allows parents to register an entire family or select family members for an event at the same time.
