COLUMBIA, Mo. – Celebrate National Hunting and Fishing Day in central Missouri with the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) and the University of Missouri (MU) on Saturday, Sept. 30, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. in Columbia.

Each year, the MU College of Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources’ (MU-CAFNR) South Farm Research Center opens its laboratories and research centers to the public to share the fun and excitement of science and discovery. South Farm, and neighboring Jefferson Farm will offer a variety of activities for all ages including, a Taste of Mizzou sampling tent, passport stamp collection, sunflower and corn mazes, mule rides, baby animal exhibits, food trucks and sampling stations, and live music.

MDC will offer interactive learning stations about Missouri’s black bears, elk, turtles, and mammals, as well as atlatl and longbow displays, magazine signups, and a Discover Nature Fishing station to practice angling skills.

In addition, this year MDC celebrates 80 years of “serving nature and you.” Keeping with its tradition of citizen-based conservation, MDC will provide opportunities for attendees to submit comments on MDC regulations, infrastructure, strategic priorities, and statewide and local conservation issues.
