Snowy owls visit MO.jpg

Snow owl laying on ground.
Snowy owls are occasional winter visitors to Missouri, usually during years when food is scarce in their Arctic range. Often they are young owls. Several snowy owls have been reported in Missouri this winter. This owl was at the Riverlands Migratory Bird Sanctuary north of St. Louis on Dec. 21.
