This class is a 12 month program that will meet once a month. You will learn simple but beautiful embroidery techniques while also exploring the flora and fauna of Missouri's swamps. Each block is based on the Swamps of Missouri.

Join us for a virtual presentation to the Introduction to Traditional Bow-Making where we discuss the history of bow-making, historical significance, and the types of wood used in creating long bows.

If you enjoy working with your hands, you will enjoy this workshop. Participants will study the history of the longbow, bow design and performance. Then you will carve your own longbow from a wooden stave using basic hand tools. Some woodworking skill is helpful. The class starts with a virtual introductory session Thursday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and continues Friday and Saturday with sessions that run from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Attendance at ALL sessions is REQUIRED. You will need to register separately for the Virtual Introduction to Bow-making Presentation which is set to take place Thursday evening - 10/7/21. Please find this event through the MDC Events page. This program is designed for ages 18 and up. Reservations are required. Class size limit is 10.
