Explore the natural wonders inside Hunter’s Cave at Three Creeks Conservation Area (Boone County). Runge will provide round-trip transportation (meet at Runge Nature Center in Jefferson City). Pack a water bottle and dress for the weather. Caves are typically 55-57 degrees Fahrenheit, so you may wish to bring an additional layer of clothing. Rubber boots or sturdy closed-toe shoes that can get wet are required as the caving experience involves walking in chilly water. Hard hats and flashlights provided, but feel free to bring your own. Access to the cave requires a 15-minute hike in hilly, occasionally steep terrain and entering a small gate with an opening that is approximately three feet tall by two feet wide. Participants under 18 years old will need to submit a permission form signed by a parent or guardian. Registration required. Ages 12+

Although this is not a hunter education course, this program goes over the best safety practices for youth and prepared them for hunting season. We will cover the commandments of firearm safety, methods for carrying a firearm, and tree stand safety. Registration required. Ages 6-10. NOTE: All participants must be accompanied by an adult.

This is a basic course for new and novice hunters and shooters to get familiar and comfortable with the basic functions and operations of handguns, shotguns, and rifles. You may bring personal firearms if you have questions about them. Ensure all firearms are unloaded and cased when entering the building. NO ammunition is allowed in the building.

Grab your hiking stick and join a guided hike at Ha Ha Tonka State Park (Camden County); 5 miles-moderate. Meet at the Runge Nature Center or the trailhead. Some transportation is provided but carpooling may be necessary. Hike leaders will contact participants before the hike to give directions if needed. Wear sturdy shoes, dress for the weather, bring a water bottle, and pack a lunch/snack. Registration required. Ages 18+
