Nature's Needlers, a volunteer led program at the Runge Conservation Nature Center, is celebrating 24 years of nature-inspired quilts. Visit the Runge Conservation Nature Center in September and October to experience our bi-annual quilt show. Nature's Needlers is a monthly program offered by volunteers who teach and guide participants in needlework inspired by Missouri's outdoors. All Ages. No registration required.

Participants need to attend this virtual program to receive the applique block/pattern which will be e-mailed after the presentation. Ages 16 and up. Registration Required. Participants will receive an e-mail with a link to the program both 24 hours and 1 hour prior to the start of the virtual presentation.

The trees are changing color and the breeze is cool. Join us for a kayaking program at Ashland Lake located by Ashland, MO; a short drive from both Columbia and Jefferson City. Bring a water bottle, snacks, and fishing equipment (optional). If fishing, you will need a valid permit. Dress for the weather. All kayaking equipment is provided, including PFD's. Meet at the Ashland Lake parking lot or meet at Runge and follow the presenters. Registration required. Ages 13 and up.

Put on your hiking shoes and join us for a guided hike at Bennett Springs State Park in Laclede County to explore the Natural Tunnel Trail. 7.5 miles-moderate. Meet at the Runge Nature Center or the trailhead. Hike leaders will contact participants before the hike to give directions if needed. Wear sturdy shoes, dress for the weather, bring a water bottle, and pack a lunch/snack. Registration Required. Ages 18 and up.

Visit with members of the Missouri Duck Decoy Collectors as they bring a variety of decoys from the last century and discuss the materials, artistry, creativity, skill, and ingenuity that went into making duck decoys. This season’s relaxing drawing artwork features the autumn wildflower, Bottle Gentian. Relax and draw from the comfort of your home in this virtual program and discover this unique, native blue wildflower and its special relationship with bumble bees. Participants will be sent a list of supplies needed during the week of the presentation via e-mail. Presenter will also e-mail a link to join this virtual program the day before and the day of the presentation.
