Ridgetop Trail will be lit by luminaries offering a whole new perspective of the forest. The trail is asphalt-paved and approximately 0.5-mile round trip, it is stroller accessible and power wheelchair accessible. This program is part of our “Nature Center at Night” series; the nature center will be open late from 5:00 to 7:00pm this evening.

After your stroll enjoy a warm fire and some hot chocolate or cider. This experience is really special and a great family time. Groups are welcome.

This program is weather dependent and in the event of inclement weather or icy trail conditions the trail walk will be cancelled.

Where do all those trout come from? Join us, along with Montauk Fish Hatchery Manager Tom Whelan, to learn about Missouri’s cold-water hatcheries. Where the fish come from, how they raise fish, and how they stock fish. Along with learning where to go to catch trout this winter. Come join the boardgame club for nature lovers! This monthly program will begin with a short program highlighting a different nature-themed board game, and how it relates to Missouri’s mission to have world class fish, forests, and wildlife. After the intro…let the games begin! There will be games available for all experience levels, though on average these games have a higher complexity level than family board game players may be used to, these games are most appropriate for ages 12 and up. You are welcome to bring any snacks and non-alcoholic beverages you wish, as well as nature-themed board games to share from your collection.

Small game hunting is exciting and for all ages. This class provides an opportunity to learn about the skills necessary to hunt and harvest rabbits. Topics will include safety, rules. habit and biology and hunting methods (with and without dogs and preparation of harvested game.
