Who’s that hooting it up each December evening?? Owls that’s who. You will learn what makes them such effective nighttime hunters and why they hoot so much this time of year. We will then take a short walk and see if we can entice any owls to fly in and talk to us. Dress appropriately since we will be outside part of the time.

Learn more about the majestic Oak tree while making mini Acorn Cap Candles.

We will use natural items to make these mini candles that can be used as floating candles, holiday decorations, and fire starters.

Celebrate the winter solstice while hiking through the forest, enjoying the mental health benefits of spending time in nature. We will stop along the way implementing mindfulness techniques. The one-mile hike will take place on the Rock Quarry trail. Dress for the weather.

All birds have feathers, and they provide many clues for us to investigate. Join us for this interactive program and learn all about the form and function of feathers. We will practice using resources to aide in the identification of found feathers and learn why bird feathers are protected. The program is targeted for ages 6-12 but all are welcome. Meet in the classroom at the Visitors Center. Please register all attending individually.
