The fish-filled streams of southwest Missouri are a winter home to bald eagles. Join the Missouri Master Naturalists, the community of Stella, and local MDC staff for an eagle viewing opportunity at Stella Veteran’s Memorial Park. There will be spotting scopes set up and fun educational activities throughout the day. Stop by anytime.

Join the Wildcat Glades Friends Group and Shoal Creek staff to learn about migrating waterfowl. Participants will dabble in waterfowl identification and learn about migratory flyways and habitat needs. We will learn to distinguish wing patterns and species grouping in flight for bird watching or waterfowl hunting. Dress for the weather, since we will be going outside to try duck calling. Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) invites waterfowl hunters to a public workshop. Participants will have the opportunity to review long-term waterfowl data about weather, migration, habitat use, harvest, and hunter opinions, and discuss their season date and zone preferences with other hunters and MDC staff. MDC will use hunter input gathered through the workshops, combined with hunter opinion surveys, to establish Missouri’s 2021-2025 duck season dates and zones.

Predator hunting can be done at times of the year when other hunting seasons are closed. This introductory program will cover the basics of predator hunting and trapping. We will cover equipment needed, set-ups, and calling. Both basic as well as some advanced tactics will be covered.

Enjoy the crisp air as we hike a loop at Compton Hollow Conservation Area. Bring a sack lunch and water and wear comfortable hiking shoes. Meet at the nature center and carpool. Hike is 3.5 miles and rated easy to moderate. This program is for women only. Girls ages 14-17 accompanied by an adult female are welcome.

Join MDC staff, Neosho National Fish Hatchery staff, and the MAKO fly fishers, for a free clinic designed to help the beginner and expert alike.
