Location: Rockwoods Reservation

Get creative with native plants in a more formal setting. Learn what native plants you can plant in your garden that rival the aesthetics of ornamental plants. Bring pictures of your garden, measurements of your plot, know your soil type and moisture level, and know how much sunlight the area receives and at what times of day.
Please bring pictures of your garden and measurements of your plot if you would like help planning your garden layout.

Come spend a beautiful spring afternoon hiking in Rockwoods Reservation. We should be able to see and identify many native wildflowers. You will also see how “Wise Use” over the past 81 years has transformed Rockwoods into a wonderful place.

Come and learn lots of neat things about snakes like how they move, smell, hear and eat. There will be live snakes found in Missouri to looks at and even touch. We will also go outside and try to find some snakes in their natural habitat.

Enjoy an evening outside with your significant other, best friend, or family member. Warmer weather and longer days make for great hikes, join a Naturalist for a guided hike on the Rock Quarry Trail- Long Loop(Moderate difficulty, 2.2 miles).

Snakes and Lizards are really amazing reptiles. Come and discover many incredible things about snakes and lizards that live in Missouri. We will also go outside and try to find some snakes in their natural habitat.

Location: Rockwoods Reservation

Join us for some fun as we teach you to make beautiful, artistic and colorful handmade paper using recycled paper and plants. Each family will need to bring a cookie sheet, cookie cutter, and small bath towel.

Date: Saturday, May 11, 2019 - 10:00am to 12:30pm

Location: Rockwoods Reservation

Start Mother's Day weekend hiking through the woods looking for and enjoying wildflowers provided by Mother Nature. Hike the full 3.5 mile loop or turn back at overlook; trail difficulty is moderate, proper shoes required, bring water and other essentials to enjoy the hike. Please meet at the Glassberg parking lot.

Life is thriving on the Trail Among the Trees! We will identify many native plants and trees along the way. We may also see other types of wildlife we can identify such as insects, reptiles, birds, and mammals. Effort = Mild-Moderate

Learning about nature from a young age is good for kids and for the environment; every month join Rockwoods naturalists for an outdoor adventure with your little one. The entire class is presented outside so please dress for the weather, wear sunscreen, and bring bug spray. Siblings are welcome but please note this class is designed for ages 3-6.
