Spring is here and we’re seeing shells! As it warms up, box turtles will begin to emerge from their winter rest. While we love to see their shells crossing through the brush on a hike, there are many dangers that they face once they’ve woken up. Hear about box turtle conservation and ways to keep our reptile friends safe this spring! See different shells and meet our brand-new ornate box turtle up close.

You will also have the opportunity to color and decorate a paper box turtle shell and have it displayed in the nature center for Powder Valley’s visitors to see! Be sure to register all individuals who will be attending the program, including children. Meet at classrooms C & D in the Powder Valley Nature Center.
