Notice: In-Person Events Cancelled

In-person MDC events and programs at our nature centers, shooting ranges, and other locations around the state have been cancelled until June 30 to help protect the public amid ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) concerns. The cancellations are effective immediately and include scheduled hunter education classes, nature center programs and events, shooting range programs and events, and landowner workshops.

MDC will be offering online programs that allow people to attend virtually. The online programs will be listed when they become available.

Please contact the specific MDC location for more information.

Join naturalist and fishing fanatic Alex Holmes for a virtual program about how you can land more smallmouth, even when the temperatures are high and the fish are sluggish. Topics covered will include tackle and gear selection, where to fish, and how to find fish when you get to the stream. This program will help prepare you to land one of these athletic bass on your own in one of the many streams in Missouri where smallmouth live.

Songbirds and waterfowl often grab our attention, whether it be at a backyard feeder or on your pond. However, some of the largest and most magnificent birds we see around our towns and cities are our birds of prey. Owls, eagles, hawks, falcons, and kites all call our neighborhoods home. Learning to recognize them and study their habits can be a wonderful aspect of enjoying nature. (For ages 10+)
