For spring break join us for free fish hatchery tours. Learn how trout are raised from egg collecting all the way to release for public fishing. Tours start at the Hatchery Conservation Center at 11 am and 1 pm Tuesday through Saturday. Tours last for approximately 30-40 minutes.

This program will teach the fundamentals of archery and atlatl, including equipment, safety, stance, and shooting techniques. We begin in the classroom and then we will move to the static archery range for some live fire. All equipment will be provided.

Learn more about Missouri mammals with this month’s Pine Needlers quilt block featuring the bobcat. Sharing its short black-tipped tail and ear tufts with the northern lynx, this solitary nocturnal hunter feeds on small mammals and birds and fills an important role in the health of the ecosystem. Pine Needlers is designed for ages 16 and up. Under 18 must have a parent or guardian present. Class limit of 15. Reservations are required. For further information, call 573-325-1381.

Try your hand at woodcarving with members of the Southern Missouri Woodcarving Artists as they teach carving techniques and show how to transform wood into works of art. Ages 12-adult.

Stressed out, stretched thin, feeling overwhelmed? Take a mini-vacation for the spirit with Sirius XM performing artist Lloyd Grotjan. Wildlife to wildflowers, savanna to forest, intricate details to sweeping vistas … sit back and watch as Lloyd combines the best of his forty plus years of nature photography with his original music from the CD releases “Song from the Ozark Plateau” and “Twelve Moons.” Performing live while immersed in dissolving color images, Lloyd’s programs are a feast of sound, sight, color, and feeling. We will be hiking the loop trail around Little Dixie Lake Conservation Area in Callaway County. Bring lunch and water. Please wear appropriate footwear, and dress in layers for all types of weather conditions, including rain.

This is a novice class for people who have little or no experience in handling and shooting a handgun. Topics covered include safety in the home, different parts of the handgun, calibers, ammunition and marksmanship. Class includes range time. You may bring your own firearm or use ours.

We will cover all aspects of reloading from brass care and preparation to bullet and primer selection and much more.
