Peck Ranch Conservation Area in northwest Carter County and eastern Shannon County is home to a wide variety of native wildlife, including deer, turkey, and Missouri’s first herd of wild elk in more than 100 years.

August A. Busch Memorial Conservation Area in St. Charles is one of three Conservation Department locations to host an stl250 Cakeway to the West birthday cake sculpture. The cakes, placed at 250 landmark sites throughout the metro area, commemorate St. Louis' 250th birthday.
