St. Louis Community Conservation Funding Opportunities

The Missouri Department of Conservation’s Community Conservation Program promotes urban wildlife habitat improvement, encourages organizational partnerships for land stewardship, and supports the training of partner staff to manage natural landscapes. The two funding opportunities available in the St. Louis metro area are the Community Conservation Grant, and the Back To Nature StL Grant. Eligible Groups

Community Conservation Grant Program funding is available to nonprofit organizations and government entities in the St. Louis metropolitan area. Eligible project areas include St. Louis City, St. Louis County, St. Charles County, Jefferson County, and incorporated areas (in municipalities or townships) of Franklin, Lincoln, and Warren counties.

Back To Nature StL Grant Program funding is available to parks departments located in St. Louis County and St. Louis City.

Eligible Practices

Projects eligible for funding include (but aren’t limited to) stream restoration, prairie or native warm-season grass reconstruction, forest management, or wetland enhancement. Funding may also be used for the training of partner organization staff. All project applications should have a long-term management plan.

Funding Amounts

Grant requests for the Community Conservation Grant should not exceed $30,000. Preference will be given to projects that involve cost-share or in-kind contributions.

Grant requests for the Back To Nature StL Grant should not exceed $50,000 and require at least 25 percent partner match through direct funding or in-kind contributions.

Application Deadline is September 12, 2014
