Bash 2009
Thank you for springing into action!
More than 111,000 bags of litter plus numerous truckloads of large debris
were collected during the No MOre Trash! Bash April 2009.

What is the No MOre Trash! campaign?
No MOre Trash! is an awareness campaign. Experience has shown that keeping the litter-prevention message in the public eye is essential to addressing litter problems. You can help put a stop to littering by:
- Setting a good example for others by not littering.
- Discouraging others from littering.
- Conducting a cleanup, or educational program to educate your community about the damage caused by littering.
Why do we need a litter-prevention campaign?
Litter. Trash. Garbage. Waste. No Matter what you call it, litter is bad for Missouri for many reasons:
- It poses health risks.
- Harms water quality and wildlife habitat.
- It is associated with increased crime.
- It creates an ugly and disheartening environment.
- It costs lots of money and time to clean up.
What does litter cost Missouri?
- The Missouri Department of Transportation spends $5.8 million annually to clean litter from Missouri highways, money that would be better spent improving Missouri roads.
- Adopt-A-Highway volunteers provide another $1 million worth of litter pickup every year.
- Missouri Stream Teams pick up tons of trash from Missouri rivers and streams every year.
- Conservation agents write hundreds of tickets for littering each year.
As you can see, litter is a serious problem in Missouri. It's a problem we can solve, but only with your help.
Here are a few photos of the clean-up efforts. See more in the Gallery.
