St. Charles, Mo. — The Missouri Department of Conservation’s (MDC) annual Wetlands for Kids Day is Saturday, April 5, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the August A. Busch Memorial Conservation Area in St. Charles. Visitors to the event should be aware that the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) will be doing work on I-64 that will affect access to the event for motorists using that route, and that they may need to consider an alternative.

MoDOT will close all lanes of Interstate 64 in two places in the Chesterfield Valley area starting at 8 p.m. on Friday, April 4.

Crews will be removing the Chesterfield Parkway West Bridge and the old Chesterfield Airport Road Bridge over the interstate. Removing the old Chesterfield Airport Road Bridge is part of the project to construct a new Daniel Boone Bridge between St. Louis County and St. Charles County.

Although drivers will be able to detour around the work, traffic through the Chesterfield Valley is expected to be exceptionally congested this weekend.

It is recommended that motorists access St. Charles County via Route 370, Route 364 (the Page Extension) or the I-70 Blanchette Bridge for the Wetlands for Kids Day event.

The August A. Busch Memorial Conservation Area is located at 2360 Route D, 2 miles west of Route 94.

All lanes on I-64 are scheduled to reopen by 5 a.m. on Monday, April 7.
