MOBERLY, Mo. - The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) is hosting a workshop for landowners interested in managing their woodland for recreation, wildlife habitat or profit. The workshop will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on June 8 at the agriculture buildings in Rothwell Park in Moberly. The workshop is free and lunch will be provided. Pre-registration is required by May 31.
MDC staff will discuss managing wildlife habitat, using prescribed fire as a tool, forest health, harvesting timber and utilizing professional foresters.
“This workshop is great for new or current landowners who would like to learn more about how to best manage their land,” said MDC Resource Forester Cody Smith.
The workshop will also help landowners set goals for their land management and stick to them for the desired result.
“We want to help landowners approach the management of their land in a well-rounded manner,” said MDC Private Land Conservationist Ted Seiler. “The workshop will cover what resources are available to those who manage their land for conservation-friendly purposes and what cost share assistance is available at both the state and federal level.”
Rothwell Park is easy to get to from Highway 24, and is located on the west side of Moberly.
