FARMINGTON, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) announces a change to the end of the month-long Wildlife Seminar at Mineral Area College. The sessions which were originally scheduled for Jan. 26 will instead be Feb. 11, from 6 to 7:45 p.m. These events are open to everyone, although registration is required.

"Note that this last meeting is on a Thursday, which is a change also," said Julie Norris, MDC private land conservationist. Norris is the seminar organizer.

The Glade and Woodland Management session is rescheduled from week three of the series. Landowners will learn habitat management tips to promote deer, turkey and small game on their property.

"The ecosystems of the glades and woodlands are extremely important and valuable to wildlife, but they are becoming increasingly rare," Norris said. "Come out and learn how to identify glades and woodlands as well as how to manage those habitats for wildlife."

The Landowner Cost Share Incentives session will explain how conservation incentive programs allow Missouri landowners to receive a financial benefit for helping in conservation efforts.

"By sharing the costs with government agencies, landowners can undertake projects they could not afford to do on their own," Norris said.

This presentation will include information about how to enroll or apply for cost share as well as example photos of completed projects.

Both sessions will be in the Mineral Area College Arts and Science Building, Rice Lecture Hall B. Although there's no cost to attend, space is limited, so registration is required by Feb. 5.
