COLUMBIA, Mo. — The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) encourages hunters in central Missouri to prepare for deer season by “sighting in” their favorite deer rifle Nov. 9 from 8 a.m. to noon at Scrivner Road Conservation Area (CA). This is a free event open to the public.

MDC hunter education staff will be on hand to assist the public to safely sight-in their rifles to make that great shot on opening day.

Coffee and doughnuts will be served in the parking lot and targets will be provided.

Throughout Missouri, the MDC provides both staffed and unstaffed shooting ranges for shooters that are safe for sighting deer rifles or practicing other shooting sports. The MDC ranges are a good place to teach youngsters and a safe place for accomplished shooters to enjoy firearm shooting skills.

For more information, contact MDC Outdoor Skills Specialist Brian Flowers at Brian.Flowers@mdc.mo.gov or 573-815-7901, ext. 3388.

Scrivner Road CA is south of Russellville on Route AA, then east on Scrivner Road. Turn left on Scott Road.
