MDC hosting family night at the range in Cole County

RUSSELLVILLE, Mo. — The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) invites families to a night at the range from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 1, at Scrivner Road Conservation Area (CA) shooting range. This free program is open to all ages, however those age 17 or younger must be accompanied by a parent or adult mentor.

MDC staff and trained firearms instructors will be on hand to help attendees' learn the basics of rifle and shotgun shooting. All firearms, ammunition and targets will be provided.

"This class will be a great introduction to shooting for the novice or someone who hasn't shot for a while and wants to brush up on their skills," said MDC Outdoor Skills Specialist Brian Flowers. "Once you know how to safely and properly use a firearm, recreational target shooting can be a fun and safe activity for individuals of all ages."

Scrivner Road CA is south of Russellville on Route AA, then east on Scrivner Road.
