ST. JAMES, Mo. -- Maramec Spring Trout Park invites our armed forces veterans to enjoy a relaxing day of trout fishing on the cool waters of Maramec Spring. Maramec Spring is hosting a Free Veterans’ Fishing Day to honor those who gave to their country, and remember those who gave their all.

This Friday June 6, trout tag and license fees will be waived for all veterans who attend. The James Foundation will also waive the $5 park entrance fee for all veterans from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Veterans can pick up their free fishing tag at the Mill Field Shelter, where free hot dogs and refreshments will be served as long as supplies last.

The park and stream bank are handicap accessible to allow for easy access. Registration is not required but will help hatchery staff determine how many fish to stock for the weekend. For more information on the Veterans’ Free Fishing Day at Maramec Spring Park, contact Dominick Delia of the Veterans of Foreign Wars at 314-280-7014.

Maramec Spring Park, owned and operated by The James Foundation, is located on Highway 8 about six miles southeast of St. James, Missouri.  The park’s fishery and trout hatchery is administered by the Missouri Department of Conservation.  The hatchery produces about 100,000 trout a year, and all are stocked in Maramec Spring Park.  More information about the park can be found at http://mdc.mo.gov/regions/ozark/maramec-spring-park-and-hatchery.
