St. Louis and St. Charles Counties, Mo — The Missouri Department of Conservation's (MDC) Forest 44 Conservation Area in west St. Louis County and portions of the August A. Busch Memorial Conservation Area in St. Charles will be closed for one day between Nov. 5 and Nov. 29 for aerial spraying to control bush honeysuckle, an invasive plant not native to North America.

CARTER COUNTY, Mo. -- Fourth graders from several Missouri Ozarks schools toured Peck Ranch Conservation Area (CA) on Oct. 8 and 9 with the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC). Funded by a generous grant from the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation (RMEF), the students learned what makes quality wildlife habitat and they completed their own nature journals as they explored.

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Naturalists will feature colors of autumn by using native berries, nuts, roots and leaves at the Natural Dyes event hosted at the Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center on Nov. 2 from 1 to 4 p.m. Naturalist Angela Pierce with the Missouri Department of Conservation says hopeful participants should call this week to reserve one of 15 spots in the class.

NEVADA, Mo. – Flooding in August caused habitat loss on most of the wetlands at the Four Rivers Conservation Area. Waterfowl hunters are advised to scout ahead of planned hunts to check conditions, said Chris Daniel, a wildlife management biologist for the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC).

Four Rivers includes stream frontage on the Osage, Little Osage, Marais des Cygnes and Marmaton rivers, just upstream from Truman Lake in Vernon and Bates counties.

COLUMBIA, Mo. — The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) encourages hunters in central Missouri to prepare for deer season by “sighting in” their favorite deer rifle Nov. 9 from 8 a.m. to noon at Scrivner Road Conservation Area (CA). This is a free event open to the public.

MDC hunter education staff will be on hand to assist the public to safely sight-in their rifles to make that great shot on opening day.

Coffee and doughnuts will be served in the parking lot and targets will be provided.
