Kansas City, Mo. -- Mary Silwance of Kansas City reeled in a big bluegill at the WOW outdoor education camp on Sept. 22 as her daughter, Imani Im, helped her celebrate the catch. They were among the 120 attendees at the event designed to connect families with outdoor activities such as camping, fishing, archery, orienteering and boating. Families camped on Friday night at Camp Lake of the Woods in Swope Park. On Saturday, they went to the James A. Reed Memorial Wildlife Area near Lee’s Summit for outdoor activities.

High Ridge, Mo — The Missouri Department of Conservation’s (MDC) Jay Henges Shooting Range has received the enviable 4-star rating from the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF). According to the NSSF announcement, the Jay Henges Range was awarded the rating because the range “introduced new features, and improved on existing conditions, while extending hours and building staff.”
