KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Dozens of kids from Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City enjoyed paddles, nets, critters, fish and fun June 27-29 when they visited the Missouri Department of Conservation's (MDC) James A. Reed Memorial Wildlife Area near Lee’s Summit for a Discover Nature Field Day. The youths participated in various activities to learn outdoor skills such as fishing, canoeing, identifying bugs and learning about mammals and snakes.

Smithville Lake, Mo. -- Science and conservation history merge at Smithville Lake every June when buckaroos in boats roundup giant Canada geese. The geese are a large-bodied subspecies once considered extinct in the United States until a few small remnant populations were discovered. Thanks to restoration efforts, the geese made major strides toward a remarkable recovery at property now within the lake’s public land boundaries.

ST. CHARLES, Mo -- Waterfowl hunters will have the opportunity to draw for prime fall hunting spots on the Upper Mississippi Conservation Area on Saturday, July 14. That’s when the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will hold the bi-annual Upper Mississippi Conservation Area duck blind drawing for pools 24, 25 and 26.

KANSAS CITY, Mo -- Catching big carp, catfish and feisty bluegill brought smiles on Saturday (June 9) to anglers participating in the annual No Boundaries fishing day at Longview Lake. The event for people with special physical and mental challenges was held at the lake marina and hosted by the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) in cooperation with Jackson County Parks and Recreation.
