Second round of tests finds no CWD in Missouri
(05/05/2004) For the second year in a row, laboratory tests found no Missouri deer with chronic wasting disease (CWD). The Missouri Department of Conservation says it plans to continue testing deer taken in this year's hunting season and in the future.
Federal Judge Affirms Conservation Court Action
(02/25/2003) A federal court judge in Kansas City has ordered AmerenUE to face liability claims in Miller County for a spring 2002 fish kill at Bagnell Dam. That fish kill resulted in the loss of over 43,000 fish valued at $3.2 million.
Youth Pheasant Hunt and Clinic
(01/08/03) Area hunters between the ages of 11 and 15 will have an opportunity to participate in the Youth Pheasant Hunt and Clinic. The hunt and clinic will be sponsored by the Heartland Chapter of Pheasants Forever, the Kansas Area Chapter of Quail Unlimited, the Truman Lake Chapter of National Wild Turkey Federation, and the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC).

AmerenUE, MDC cross legal swords over fish kill responsibility

New Department of Conservation Director Appointed
(04/10/02) Chairman Anita Gorman, Kansas City, speaking on behalf of the Missouri Conservation Commission, announced the appointment of John D. Hoskins, 47, as the seventh director of the Missouri Department of Conservation since its formation in 1937.
Conservation Director Conley to retire July 1
(03/08/02) Conservation Department Director Jerry M. Conley has announced that he will retire from the state wildlife agency in July. His retirement culminates a 36-year career with state conservation agencies, 25 years of which were spent as director. His retirement plans include a return to Idaho, where he and his wife, Janet, have one grandchild, with another expected in April.
MDC needs volunteers for 2002 summer turkey brood counts
