Walker's Cicada

Walker's cicada, Tibicen pronotalis, is one of several annual cicadas in Missouri. It is one of our loudest cicadas, calling with a rapid, pulsing, droning rasp in late afternoon and evening during the hottest part of summer. They live as nymphs underground for about three years, and spend about two weeks as winged adults.
