Here is your chance to get the scoop on how Asian carp got into our state waters. You will also learn what they do that makes them an unwelcome part of our aquatic ecosystem. Best of all, we will be offering samples of Asian carp to eat. Don’t be surprised that you find them tasty.

Join us as we go back in time to discover what plants and animals were used for food during by soldiers and citizens over 150 years ago. You will be amazed at the variety of foods that people relied on. In addition to an indoor portion, we will take a short hike to find some of these wild edible plants that are still food for humans today. Bring a bottle of water and hiking shoes.
Do you want color in the landscape that lasts even when the Missouri weather becomes hot and dry? Native plants can be the answer. Not only do they thrive in our climate but they provide food for native birds, butterflies and other pollinators, as well as, endless hours of viewing enjoyment. Ages 12 and up. One way to fully appreciate the beauty of the Ozarks is to travel down one of its rivers. This program gives you the opportunity to discover nature by spending two days on the water in the Ozark National Scenic Riverways. We will meet at Twin Pines Conservations Education Center on Saturday at 9:00 am and will be back at Twin Pines by 5:00 pm Sunday. Equipment and meals will be provided. Ages 12 and up. If you enjoy working with your hands, you will enjoy this workshop. Participants will study the history of the longbow, bow design and performance. Then you will carve your own longbow from a wooden stave using basic hand tools. Some woodworking skill is helpful. The class starts with an introductory session Thursday from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and continues Friday and Saturday with sessions that run from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Jakes stands for Juniors Acquiring Knowledge, Ethics and Sportsmanship. Designed for the 6 to 12 year old, this skill-building day is filled with a variety of outdoor activities.
