Partners in Grassland Conservation
Please join one of our partner's efforts! To help fund our work, call Prairie Chicken Recovery Leader Max Alleger at 660-885-8179, ext. 247.
The Missouri Grasslands Coalition is a partnership of agencies and groups that recognize prairie chickens as an indicator of healthy grassland ecosystems. Our strategy includes public education and active grassland management that meets the economic needs of local residents and the habitat needs of native plants and wildlife within six landscapes called Grasslands Coalition Focus Areas (GCFAs). We deem these six landscapes to have the greatest potential for maintaining greater prairie chickens and other grassland-dependent species. Missouri Grasslands Coalition member entities include the following:
- Audubon Missouri
- Audubon Society of Missouri
- Conservation Federation of Missouri
- Missouri Coalition for the Environment
- Missouri Conservation Heritage Foundation
- Missouri Conservation Opportunity Areas
