The
ruffed grouse, Bonasa umbellus, belongs to the same group of
birds as the turkey, pheasant, quail and prairie chicken. It is the
most important gamebird in many northern states, but recently it has
been relatively scarce in Missouri. It is only found in extensively
forested areas where habitat is suitable. |
