The Missouri Grasslands Coalition is a partnership of agencies and groups that recognize prairie chickens as an indicator of healthy grassland ecosystems. Our strategy includes public education and active grassland management that meets the economic needs of local residents and the habitat needs of native plants and wildlife within six landscapes called Grasslands Coalition Focus Areas (GCFAs). We deem these six landscapes to have the greatest potential for maintaining greater prairie chickens and other grassland-dependent species.
