Feral Hogs

The Conservation Department discourages people from hunting specifically for feral hogs. However, if you are afield for other game and encounter a feral hog, you are encouraged to shoot it on sight. Special restrictions apply during firearms deer and turkey seasons. Please refer to the table below.

Firearms Deer Season
  • November portion
  • Antlerless portion in open areas
  • You must possess a small game hunting permit or unfilled firearms deer hunting permit.
  • Deer permittees may only use methods allowed for deer.
  • Small game permittees may use only pistols, revolvers, rifles, or shotguns. These firearms must fire .22 caliber or smaller rimfire cartridges or shot no larger than No. 4.
  • Dogs may not be used.
  • These restrictions do not apply to landowners and lessees hunting on land they own or lease.
