Shooting hours

  • One-half hour before sunrise to one-half hour after sunset

Limits

  • Two turkeys of either sex. Both may be taken on the same day.
  • Using an archer’s hunting permit, two deer, which may be of either sex, but only one antlered deer may be taken
    before Nov. 15.
  • An antler-point restriction applies in many counties.
  • Using antlerless permits, any number of antlerless deer in counties where allowed.

Resident Landowner Archery Antlerless Deer Hunting Permit

Hunters may purchase and fill any number of Archery Antlerless Deer Hunting Permits during the archery deer season in all counties BUT: Butler, Dunklin, Iron, Mississippi, New Madrid, Pemiscot, Reynolds, and Scott counties.

Methods allowed

  • Longbows, compound bows or recurve bows of any draw weight
  • Hand-held string-releasing devices
  • Illuminated sights, scopes, and quickpoint sights
  • Atlatls

Methods prohibited

  • A bow fastened to a stock or other device that maintains the bow in a drawn position
  • Any sighting device that casts a beam of light on the game
  • Use of electronic calls, electronically activated calls, bait, dogs, or night vision equipment
  • Live decoys may not be used to take turkeys.
  • Archers hunting deer or turkeys during the archery season
    may not be in possession of a firearm. Some exceptions
    apply. See 3 CSR 10-7.432 and 3 CSR 10-7.455 of the Wildlife
    Code of Missouri.

Bowhunters: We Need Your Help!

Please participate in the Bowhunter Observation Survey.

The Conservation Department needs bowhunters to record the deer, turkeys, and furbearers they see while hunting. This information helps biologists gauge the health of wildlife populations and set hunting regulations.

It’s easy to participate. Just send an email to Martha.Mccrary@mdc.mo.gov. Write “Bowhunter Observation Survey” in the subject line, and don’t forget to include your name and mailing address. You can also send your name and address to:

We’ll send you a diary to record the deer, turkeys, and furbearers you see while bowhunting. At the end of the season, drop the postage-paid diary in the mail. Once Conservation Department biologists tally the information, they’ll return your diary along with a summary of sightings for the entire state.
