2011 Archery Deer and Turkey Hunting Regulations

Season dates:

  • September 15-November 11, 2011
  • November 23, 2011-January 15, 2012

Open statewide, antler-point restrictions apply in some counties, see map on antler-point restrictions in selected counties.

Shooting hours

  • One-half hour before sunrise to one-half hour after sunset

Valid permits

  • Resident or Nonresident Archer’s Hunting Permit
  • Resident Landowner Archer’s Hunting Permit
  • Resident or Nonresident Archery Antlerless Deer Hunting Permit
  • Resident Landowner Archery Antlerless Deer Hunting Permit

Hunters may purchase and fill any number of Archery Antlerless Deer Hunting Permits during the archery deer season in all counties BUT: Butler, Carter, Dunklin, Iron, Mississippi, New Madrid, Pemiscot, Reynolds, Scott and Stoddard.

Missouri counties where any number of antlerless deer permits can be used.

Season limit

  • Two turkeys
  • Using an archer’s hunting permit, two deer, which may be of either sex, provided that before Nov. 12, of the deer taken, only one may be antlered
  • Using antlerless permits, any number of antlerless deer in counties where allowed.

Point to remember

  • Archers hunting deer or turkey during the archery season may not be in possession of a firearm. Some exceptions apply (See the Wildlife Code).

Methods allowed

  • A longbow, compound bow or recurve bow of any draw weight; handheld string releasing devices, illuminated sights, scopes and quick point sights are allowed

Methods prohibited

  • A bow fastened to a stock or other device that maintains the bow in a drawn position
  • Any sighting device that casts a beam of light on the game
  • Use of dogs, bait, electronic calls, electronically activated calls or live decoys
