Waterfowl Quick Draw
In 2010, the Missouri Department of Conservation implemented a new, web-based pilot draw system for waterfowl hunters on three (3) of the Department’s 15 conservation areas that offer managed waterfowl hunting.
Called Quick Draw, MDC conducts this Internet-based draw system twice a week during the waterfowl season to allocate hunting opportunities at the three pilot conservation areas: Eagle Bluffs, Grand Pass and Otter Slough. The three pilot areas still offer poor-line opportunities.
The remaining 12 conservation areas offering managed waterfowl hunting remain under the existing reservation system.
Why are we conducting this pilot?
Numerous studies have shown that a major reason people don't participate in hunting and other outdoor activities is a lack of time. Quick Draw saves hunters travel time by letting them know whether they have been drawn for an available hunting spot before driving to one of the three pilot areas.
Waterfowl hunters can apply for slots through Quick Draw beginning Oct. 21 for the North Zone and Oct. 28 for the Middle Zone.
Waterfowl hunters can apply for reservations on the 12 other conservation areas beginning Sept. 1 through Sept. 18. Results will be available Oct. 1.
