Fishing Records

Did you or someone you know catch an exceptional fish? If so, it may qualify for a Master Angler or new State Record Award. These awards commemorate two high points in an angler's career: the big one that didn’t get away and a state-record-breaking catch!

Master Angler Award

Most Missouri game fish species have an established trophy length and weight. If your catch meets or exceeds the trophy size for its species, it qualifies for an MDC Master Angler Award. Check the Master Angler Form below for species trophy criteria and to apply for the award.

State Record Fish Award

This award recognizes an angler’s top achievement—catching the biggest fish of that species in Missouri’s history. If your fish satisfies the criteria for being a new state record, you will be awarded a plaque and a place on the State Record Fish List. Check the State Record Fish List and Program Rules below, and then use the State Record Fish Entry Form to submit your information for review.
