St. Louis Winter Trout Areas

St. Louis Winter Trout Areas

  • Trout stocking begins at all 11 St. Louis winter trout-fishing areas in November and runs through February.
  • Several lakes receive two stockings a month, while seasonal catch-and-release lakes get stocked less.
  • Although a few lunkers (up to 10 pounds) are stocked, most stocked trout average three-quarters of a pound.
  • Most are rainbow trout, but brown trout have been included on rare occasions.

Call the Fish Stocking Hotline any time: 636-300-9651

Winter weather can temporarily suspend stocking with little notice, so stocking dates are not announced ahead of time. However, stockings are quickly reported to the St. Louis Fish Stocking Hotline, which you can call any time of the day, seven days a week.
