Community Assistance Program

In 1992 and 1994, the City and University enrolled these 12 Columbia-area lakes in the Community Assistance Program (CAP) sponsored by the Missouri Conservation Department. This program has made it possible for the fish populations in these lakes to be managed by the Conservation Department and for new parking lots, boat ramps, a disabled-accessible fishing dock and restrooms to be provided.

The Community Assistance Program, sponsored by the Missouri Conservation Department, provides fisheries management and assistance to local communities for developing and upgrading recreational facilities. In return, local communities maintain the area and facilities, and open their lakes to the public. This program provides fishing and improved facilities at lakes close to home. Everyone benefits.
