Tarkio Prairie
Dry-mesic and mesic prairie of the Western Section of the Glaciated Plains Natural Division. Tarkio Prairie is the only known publicly-owned site in northwest Missouri for the rare prairie dandelion. The endangered western prairie fringed orchid is also known from this prairie. Long Branch Creek flows through the area, bisecting the prairie.
